The Christmas Night celebration started at 11.00 pm with carol singing perfomed by the Nativitas Choir which is part of the Victory Band, Xaghra. The choir was directed by Silvana Agius and Ivan Attard was its organist.

At 11.30pm, the procession with Baby Jesus was held. This was accompanied by the flame which was brought from the Bethlehem manger. After the status of Baby Jesus was placed in the crib beneath the main artal, the sisters Annmarie and Christiana Cassar deliver the traditional Christmas Sermon. Psalms were recited and the Midnight Mass was celebrated by H.E. Mgr Nikol Cauchi, bishop emeritus of Gozo together with the rector of the Sanctuary Fr. Gerard Buhagiar, Mgr Beneditt Camilleri, Fr Edward Vella, Fr Manuel Curmi and Fr Daniel Xerri, the rector of Gozo seminary.
