Meditations for the Via Crucis - Twelfth Station
Jesus is laid in the arms of his Blessed Mother
Reading from the Gospel according to Matthew | (Mt 27: 57-58) |
When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea named Joseph who was also a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him.
Reflection
From the womb of the Virgin Mother, the Author of Life was born;
The Son of God becomes man and dwells among us!
Now the world is giving it back into his Mother’s arms,
No longer alive, bud dead.
That which happened to Christ, continues to happen within us.
The life of adopted children of God, which we received in baptism.
The world kills in us the new-born man,
It destroys peace and breeds contempt,
Puts out the light in order to bring darkness!
Prayer
O Mother of Mercy,
Remind us in the love of the Church our Mother
And when sin breaks us,
Give us the courage to rise again and to go to the priest
That we may receive again Life, that Life which is bestowed through the forgiveness of sins.
Silence.....Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be
Blessed is the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus
O Lord have mercy on us and grant us forgiveness of our sins
We adore you O Christ and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
